Mahindra Thar RWD Launched in India at Rs 9.99 Lakh; Here's What It Gets

Mahindra & Mahindra has finally launched the Thar 2WD in India. The price of the Mahindra Thar 2WD begins at Rs 9.99 Lakh and goes up to Rs 13.49 Lakh. Alongside the official launch of the rear-wheel-drive variant, the Mahindra Thar's 4WD version has been enhanced in terms of its capabilities. Mechanically, the Mahindra Thar 2WD models will use the same 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine, which produces 150bhp and 320Nm of torque and will only be available with a six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is a 1.5-litre motor, which gets a six-speed manual transmission and produces 117bhp and 300Nm of torque. With the exception of the 4x4 gear lever, which has been replaced by a small storage area, the interior of the 2WD Thar is the same as the 4WD models.

In addition to the previously offered colours, which include Red Rage, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, and Aqua Marine, the 2WD version of the Thar SUV now also comes in two new colours – Blazing Bronze and Everest White. While the mechanical locking differential (MLD) will be an option on the LX Diesel 4WD trims, the Mahindra Thar's 4WD variants currently come with an electronic brake locking differential. For all Thar models, the automaker is also selling accessory kits that come with style packs, front and rear armrests, and more customised items.
