There’s no doubt that the Thar has been one of Mahindra’s most iconic and profitable nameplates in India. Over the years, the moniker has evolved through various avatars, ranging from the rugged 3-door model to the more lifestyle-oriented 5-door Thar Roxx. When Mahindra showcased the Thar Electric Concept in 2023 during its Independence Day event, few expected a more advanced version to arrive so soon. Fast forward to Independence Day 2025, Mahindra surprised everyone by unveiling the Vision T, a more refined and evolved version of the Thar EV. While it’s still a concept and not production-ready, the Vision T builds on the original Thar E. If you are curious about what’s changed? Let’s explore the key design differences between the newly unveiled Vision T and the original Thar Electric Concept.

The Mahindra Vision T has a larger, six-slat split grille, similar to the one on the Thar Roxx. In contrast, the Thar.e concept had a slim and gloss-black grille with an exclusive logo and a 'crosshair' style LED DRL signature within its squared headlamp housing.

While the Vision T maintains squared LED headlights, they now feature more rectangular lighting elements, and the DRLs are vertical strips. The most notable highlight is the contrasting yellow tow hook. The Vision T also adds a skid plate.

Unlike the original Thar Electric concept's rugged, exposed door hinges, the Vision T opts for a cleaner look with flush, integrated hinges. The evolved SUV tones things down with more understated and traditional body cladding. Moreover, the rear door handles are positioned on the C-pillar. The Thar.e's side profile is marked by wide and angular wheel arches, as well as flat, slab-sided body panels.

The rear design on both concepts highlights their front-end lighting signature, alongside a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. However, the bumpers have distinct designs.
The interior of the Vision T shows a clear evolution, with a circular, flat-bottom steering wheel. For comparison, the Thar.e has a hexagonal unit. The Vision T has a cleaner and refined layout with a conventional gear selector stalk and a large vertical touchscreen.

On the other hand, the Thar.e gets a centre console with numerous physical buttons. The Vision T, in contrast, strikes a balance between digital and physical controls.
The Thar.e rides on the P1 platform, a dedicated EV architecture derived from the INGLO platform.
