Mahindra has revealed the Vision SXT concept at its annual Independence Day event, marking the next phase in the Thar family’s journey. Built on the NU_IQ monocoque modular platform, the Vision SXT can house both petrol/diesel and electric powertrains, making it a flexible choice for future mobility needs. It shares its foundation with the Vision T concept, also shown at the event, with both models inspired by the Thar.e concept introduced in 2023.
Unlike the Vision T’s SUV layout, the Vision SXT takes a pick-up-inspired approach, featuring a compact load bay at the rear for added utility. The Vision.SXT features flared wheel arches, a wide bonnet, and a chunky bumper. Both models have protruding LED headlamps set in sculpted surrounds with a bold grille. The Vision.T and Vision.SXT adopt a boxy shape and is positioned as an all-electric evolution of the Mahindra Thar, blending off-road capability with a modern powertrain.

With the Vision.SXT, Mahindra is moving away from its earlier pickup styling approach. This concept uses heavy-duty cladding on the arches, a prominent bumper for added durability, and distinct lighting placement for a unique look.

The dual spare-wheel arrangement on the flatbed reinforces its long-distance and off-road intent, while the proportions suggest a balance between work-ready toughness and updated design cues.
While the full technical specifications have yet to be revealed, Mahindra has confirmed that its new NU_IQ platform will underpin the upcoming Vision SXT pickup and several future SUVs. This modular monocoque design supports petrol, diesel, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains, offering more versatility and improved comfort compared to older ladder-frame designs.
For the Vision SXT, this means the possibility of hybrid and electric models that combine efficiency with pickup practicality. Using one platform for multiple powertrains helps Mahindra reduce costs and speed up new model developments, with the production version of Vision.SXT is expected between 2027 and 2030.
