Mahindra is all set to launch the much-awaited XEV 9S in India on November 27 at its ‘Scream Electric’ event in Bengaluru. However, before that, the car has been teased once again, giving a sneak peek into its standout features. The electric variant of the XUV700 is confirmed to have a panoramic sunroof and rear seats with reclining function.
A key highlight is the new electrically operated Boss Mode, which allows the rear passenger to adjust the front passenger seat’s position and recline at the push of a button. This marks a significant upgrade over the manual unit found in the ICE-powered XUV700 SUV. Mahindra has not yet revealed the battery capacity or electric motor for the XEV 9S. However, industry reports suggest that the SUV will mirror the technical specifications of the BE 6 and the XEV 9e. Read on for details.
The upcoming XEV 9S, based on teasers, is expected to adopt a more upright and commanding stance compared to its INGLO-platform siblings, the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Key exterior highlights are LED headlamps, a sealed grille, a connected LED DRL bar, slim LED DRLs with triangular projector accents, smoked-effect taillamps, and aerodynamic wheels.

Inside, the cabin offers a lounge-like vibe with soft-touch surfaces, toggle-style switches, and advanced amenities, like a Harman Kardon system, three-screen dashboard, and passenger display. Other possible features include wireless charging, ventilated seats, a powered driver seat, dual-zone climate control, leatherette upholstery, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.
The XEV 9S is likely to share its powertrain with Mahindra’s BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs. The smaller 59kWh battery delivers 228bhp, while the larger 79kWh unit produces 282bhp.

In terms of range, the smaller battery allows the BE 6 to travel around 557 kilometres, and the XEV 9e about 542 kilometres. However, the larger battery pack boosts the range to 683 kilometres for the BE 6 and 656 kilometres for the XEV 9e. Both SUVs have a single motor that powers the rear wheels.
