The Maruti Suzuki Dzire was the best-selling car in March 2026, with 21,224 units sold. It outpaced the Tata Nexon, which had topped the charts in February but slipped to third place this month. Meanwhile, the Tata Punch rose to second position, while the Hyundai Creta retained its spot at No. 3 in March 2026. Overall, Maruti Suzuki continued its dominance as the best-selling carmaker in India last month, posting supplies of 1.66 lakh units in the market, compared to 1.51 lakh units in the same period last year. This translated to a year-on-year growth of 10.27%. Here’s a look at the top five best-selling cars for March 2026.
The Dzire sold the highest in March 2026, at 21,224 units. It recorded a strong 37.28% year-on-year growth, emerging as the biggest gainer among the top five while strengthening its dominance in the sedan segment.

The Punch secured the second spot with 20,977 units, exhibiting a considerable rise of 18.42% year-on-year.

The Nexon ranked third with 19,810 units. Compared to 16,366 units sold in March last year, this was a 21.04% growth. Despite dropping a position from February, it continues to be one of the strongest players in the compact SUV category.

The Creta remained the fourth best-seller with 17,838 units. It saw a marginal 1.22% decline in YoY sales, from 18,059 units sold in the same month last year.

The Ertiga MPV from Maruti Suzuki recorded sales of 17,072 units. Compared to 16,804 units sold in March 2025, this was a marginal increase of 1.59%.
As for remaining models, the Wagon R recorded 17,025 units but saw a slight 0.87% YoY decline, while the Baleno posted a strong comeback with 16,392 units and a 32.65% growth. The Maruti Brezza, however, registered a dip of 2.51% with 16,130 units sold.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx continued its upward trajectory, with 15,540 units and a rise of 13.69%. The Mahindra Scorpio N (including the Classic) completed the list of top ten, and sold 14,578 units, showing a growth of 4.78% year-on-year.
