Maruti Suzuki has started exporting its first electric SUV, the e Vitara, marking a new chapter in India’s electric mobility journey. The first shipment of 2,900 units left Pipavav Port in Gujarat for 12 European countries, including the UK, Germany, France, and Norway. This step reflects the company’s effort to make India a global hub for electric vehicle production, in line with the country’s push for sustainable transportation.
Maruti Suzuki started producing the e Vitara on 25 August 2025 at its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Suzuki Motor Corporation President Toshihiro Suzuki attending the launch. The SUV will now make its way to over 100 countries in the coming months. For Indian buyers, the wait won’t be too long, as the domestic launch is set for early 2026.
