Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the e Vitara in India in February 2026, although the exact date is yet to be confirmed. The brand’s first-ever electric vehicle is already on sale in Europe, where it is offered with two battery pack options and both FWD and AWD configurations. For India, however, Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the e Vitara will be offered exclusively with front-wheel drive, while the battery pack options will remain the same. The e Vitara, built on a dedicated electric platform and manufactured in India, marks a significant milestone not only for the brand but also for the Indian electric vehicle market. Here’s everything you need to know about the model.

The smaller 49kWh and larger 61kWh battery packs will be available across three variants: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Both battery packs power a front-mounted electric motor, with the 49kWh version producing 142bhp and the 61kWh unit generating 172bhp, while torque output remains identical at 192.5Nm. Variant-wise, the entry-level Delta trim will be limited to the 49kWh battery, whereas the Zeta and Alpha variants will be equipped with the larger 61kWh unit.

Range figures for the Maruti e Vitara electric SUV stand at 344 kilometres (WLTP) for the 49kWh battery and up to 543 kilometres (ARAI) for the 61kWh version. Both configurations will feature front-wheel drive, unlike the international-spec e Vitara, which also gets an AWD dual-motor option.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara looks like a modern SUV design with a wide stance and sharp detailing. The front is highlighted by slim Y-shaped LED DRLs, a dark-finished bumper, integrated fog lamps, and a silver skid plate. Clean body lines and sculpted surfaces add to thesporty and premium look.
On the side, the electric SUV gets wheel arches, thick body cladding, and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. It has wraparound LED taillights, a roof spoiler, and a shark fin antenna, along with a chunky bumper on the rear.
The dual-tone black-and-tan theme gives the e Vitara a premium look inside, covering the dashboard, door pads, and seats. Meanwhile, glossy black accents and semi-leatherette seats add to the style and comfort. For the first time, the two-spoke steering wheel makes its debut in a Maruti Suzuki car.

In terms of features, the e Vitara has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster. It also includes an Infinity sound system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, panoramic glass roof, and ambient lighting. Further, Maruti Suzuki has equipped the SUV with electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, a PM2.5 air purifier, and sliding and reclining rear seats.
The Maruti Suzuki electric SUV comes equipped with up to seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). It also offers Level-2 ADAS features, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and lane keep assist, and has earned a 5-star Bharat NCAP crash test rating, making it one of the safest electric SUVs in India.
Maruti Suzuki will support its EV owners with more than 2,000 dedicated charging stations across 1,100 cities, in partnership with 13 charging aggregators. It is also set to introduce Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) for its debut electric car, the e Vitara, in India.
