Maruti Suzuki has upgraded its Fronx subcompact SUV in India by making six airbags standard across all variants, a change that came into effect on July 25. This aligns with the company’s broader initiative to enhance safety throughout its lineup, as seen with similar updates to the XL6, Ertiga, and Baleno models. Previously, only the higher trims came equipped with side and curtain airbags, while the base versions were limited to two front airbags. The Fronx now offers better occupant protection in its entry models, too, bringing it up to par with competitors that already include six airbags as standard. This update is in line with Maruti Suzuki's earlier announcement to implement six-airbag protection throughout its lineup by the end of 2025.

The safety improvement led to a modest average price rise of approximately 0.5 per cent across the range, amounting to a few thousand rupees per variant. The price of the SUV starts at Rs 7.54 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.07 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Fronx remains available in five variants: Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha. It is offered in seven single-tone paint options, including Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Celestial Blue, Bluish Black, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, and Earthen Brown.

Buyers can also opt for dual-tone roof finishes on select colours such as Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, and Earthen Brown.
The crossover is powered by two petrol engines. The first is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) motor generating 89bhp and 113Nm of torque, paired with either a five-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The second option is a 1.0-litre turbocharged Boosterjet engine that delivers 99bhp and 147.6Nm, and is available with a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, the Fronx sports a burgundy-and-black dual-tone theme and comes equipped with a wide range of modern features. These include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, wireless smartphone integration, head-up display, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, Arkamys sound system, wireless charging, automatic climate control, LED headlamps with DRLs, rear AC vents, and a 360-degree camera.

On the safety front, it now includes six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
