Maruti Suzuki Fronx Launched in South Africa with Bigger 1.5-litre Petrol Engine

The Fronx SUV has finally launched in South Africa with a bigger 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine. In India, the SUV is available with a choice of two powertrains: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol unit.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has finally landed on South African shores with a price tag of R 279,000 (Approximately Rs 12.23 lakh, ex-showroom). While the model's exterior is exactly the same as the India-spec version, the engine has undergone the most significant alteration. The vehicle offered in South Africa is powered by a bigger 1.5-litre gasoline engine and comes with a choice of a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox or a 5-speed manual gearbox. This configuration promises to produce a maximum power of 103bhp and a peak torque of 138Nm. A 1.2-litre normally aspirated engine and a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine are the two engine choices for the Fronx in India. The Fronx sold here in India, and the one made for South Africa are similar in terms of design except for the new Orange exterior paint option. Additionally, the interior is comparable to the India-spec model, with its black/maroon paint scheme and equipment list.

This international-spec Fronx SUV has two broad variants: GL and GLX. Contrarily, the India-based model comes in five variations: Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha. An automated climate control, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, auto-dimming IRVM, ambient lighting, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, and a wireless charger are all included in the top-spec GLX variant of the Fronx. Besides this, automatic headlights, hill hold control, Cruise control, six airbags, a telescoping steering wheel, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX, and ESP are additional equipment available.

The Fronx SUV has a starting price of Rs 7.47 lakh in India (ex-showroom). However, the model is priced at R 279,000 (about Rs 12.23 lakh, ex-showroom) for the South African market.
