Maruti Suzuki Wagon R family has 15 lakh members in India

India’s largest car manufacturer has confirmed that one of its best selling models in India – Maruti Suzuki Wagon R – has sold over 15 lakh units from the time it was introduced in the year 2000.

Considered by Maruti Suzuki as one of the most consistent performers in its portfolio, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has reached the 15 lakh mark in Indian market. From the time of its inception in 2000, it has been in India’s top five best-selling cars all throughout.

In 2013-14, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,56,300 units of Wagon R and has already sold over 93,000 units this year so far. One of the main reasons for this success run of Wagon R is the constant changes the car has been going through from last 14 years. The recent development was the addition of CNG kit in 2010 which proved to be a huge success for the manufacturer as in metros like Delhi and Mumbai, the CNG variant accounts for 50% of its sales. Then in 2013, to keep the trend going, Maruti Suzuki added Wagon R Stingray to its portfolio which came with an array of features like driver info display, airbag, ABS, first-in-class projector headlamps, black upholstery and alloy wheels. Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) confirms this claim by adding that last month Wagon R was India’s third best-selling car by clocking a sales figure of 14,310 units.
