The McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division has pulled the covers off a set of four limited-edition McLaren GT cars, which are only available in the UK. Each of these special editions is limited to just two units, resulting in a total production of eight vehicles. According to the firm, each model in this collection has a unique specification with distinctive colour and material combinations for the McLaren GT. There are a total of four exterior colour options available for the GT by MSO: Cerulean Blue, XP Green, Sarigan Quartz, and a brand-new shade called Cyber Yellow. It should be noted that these colours are historically and technologically significant for McLaren. Read on to know more about this new Limited Edition model from the house of McLaren.

McLaren GT Special Edition: Paying Homage Through Colours

The GT by MSO will have four lively exterior colour scheme options, with the brake callipers matching the external colour. Cerulean Blue stands out among the special exterior shades because it was created as an MSO Bespoke paint for the McLaren P1, the company's first vehicle in the Ultimate series. With a Dark Green Metallic tone, reminiscent of early F1 road car prototypes, the XP Green colour pays homage to the renowned McLaren F1. This shade of Green closely resembles the 1997 F1 XP GT ‘Longtail’, a developmental prototype of the F1 GTR, which won the Le Mans 24 Hours.

The Speedtail's debut is commemorated by the Sarigan Quartz livery, which is also featured on the GT. Before that, the Speedtail XP2, a developmental vehicle, was painted in this colour. During high-speed testing at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Florida, USA, the Speedtail XP2 reached speeds of more than 403km/h. In addition, MSO created the brand-new tone Cyber Yellow, especially for the occasion. It includes a modified lustrous coat and is an evolution of the Volcano Yellow paint colour.

McLaren GT Special Edition: Exterior Accessories

The MSO Black Pack offers an exquisite assortment of Gloss Black components designed to enhance the exterior aesthetics of the GT by MSO, and it is included as a standard feature with the vehicle. This package includes various elements, including Gloss Black exhaust finishers, exterior upper window surrounds, and door mirror casings. Furthermore, the 10 Twin-Spoke Lightweight Forged Alloy wheels are also finished in Gloss Black, creating a seamless and captivating finish for the vehicle's exterior.

The interior of the car is full of details that pay homage to the UK. For instance, the GT by MSO has a debossed 'Union Jack' flag design on the armrest and key fob. The car gets diamond-pattern quilted stitching in the body colour on the seat base and backrest, while the seat backs have the MSO logo sewn onto them. The overall interior design pays tribute to McLaren's 60-year history and British heritage, not to mention that it’s aesthetically pleasing.
