Mercedes AMG C43 Coupe introduced

Mercedes has introduced the new Mercedes AMG C43 Coupe.

Mercedes’ in-house performance division has announced a new entrant on their line up. The new car is based on the C-Class and is called the Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe.

The introduction also marks the new ‘43’ model series from AMG. The C43 3 door coupe gets a brand new 3.0L Biturbo V6 that churns out 362hp and 520Nm of torque. All of that power in transferred to the AMG performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system through a specifically tuned 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. 100km/h from a standstill takes 4.6 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 250km./h. The 4MATIC all-wheel drive has a rear-biased torque distribution of 31% at the front to 69% for the year. The engine also comes with NANOSLIDE coating of the cylinder liners that help in better performance and efficiency, developed and used in the hybrid V6 powertrains by the MERCEDES-AMG PETRONAS F1 team on their racing engines.

For the C43, Mercedes has developed a brand new front axle and newly developed steering knuckles and load-bearing joints in the steering system. The C43 also comes with an adjustable AMG RIDE CONTROL sport suspension. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) has a three-stage setting selectable by the driver and the rear axle with elastokinematics tailored to higher driving dynamics.

Mercedes has also added bespoke styling features on the C43 with special dual split tailpipes at the rear and the diamond chrome studded radiator grille from the A-Class right at the front. The 18” inch 5’spoke alloy wheels are finished in high-gloss black paint with a high sheen finish. On the inside, the AMG gets an AMG styled instrument cluster with a chequred flag design and the AMG main menu. The multi function 3-spoke flat bottom steering wheel is lined in leather with red stitching.

Given the performance and powertrain figures, the car is likely to sit lower than the C63 AMG in the price bracket which will make it a more affordable AMG.
