Mercedes-Benz E220d launched
The E220d sits below the E350d and is priced at Rs 57.14 lakhs (pre-GST) (ex-showroom, Pune). Just a few months back, Mercedes-Benz brought the 2017 E-Class to our shores, for the first time in a long wheelbase avatar.

Just a few months back, Mercedes-Benz brought the 2017 E-Class to our shores, for the first time in a long wheelbase avatar. When the new model was launched, the Stuttgart-based carmaker introduced it in two variants – the E200 petrol and a powerful E350d diesel. Now, the company has brought in a smaller engine version of the new E-Class in the form of the E220d and it is priced at Rs 57.14 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).
This new E220d is powered by Mercedes-Benz’s all-new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel motor that replaces the old 2.1-litre mill. Due to its aluminium construction, the engine is 17% lighter and 13% more efficient. Mated to a 9G-TRONIC transmission, this engine makes 192bhp of peak power and 400Nm of max torque. with this engine the E-Class can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 240km/h.

As far as equipment is concerned, the E220d comes more or less similarly equipped like the E200 petrol. This variant comes with LED headlamps with Daytime Running Lights, LED taillights, rain sensing windscreen wipers, 17-inch alloy wheels and more. On the inside, the dashboard comes draped in leather, 64-colour ambient lighting, reclining rear seats with comfort headrests, 3-zone climate control and more. In terms of safety, the E220d comes fitted with 7 airbags, ABS, ESP, tyre pressure monitor, and then some.
So far, Mercedes-Benz only had the powerful 3.0-litre V6 diesel on offer in the E350d. The E220d is an option for those who don’t need the powerful V6 diesel but still want the option of a diesel motor.
