Mercedes-Benz G-Class G400d Launched in India at Rs 2.55 Crore

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the much-anticipated G-Class G400d in India, with an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.55 crore. The luxury manufacturer has begun bookings for the vehicle in our market at Rs 1.5 lakh.

Mercedes-Benz has launched the highly-awaited G-Class G400d in India at a starting price of Rs 2.55 crore (ex-showroom). In our market, the luxury automaker has also commenced the bookings for the vehicle at a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh. The car will expectedly be ready for dispatching starting in the fourth quarter of this year. According to Mercedes-Benz, deliveries will be based on exclusive allocations for the Indian market because of the vehicle's enormous demand. Mechanically, the new model comes equipped with a powerful in-line six-cylinder diesel engine, which produces 326bhp and 700Nm at 1200rpm to 3200rpm. This unit has Mercedes-Benz NANOSLIDE® cylinder barrels. Here's everything about this new Mercedes-Benz car regarding features, specs, and design.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class G400d: Sustainable Design and Interior Features

According to the luxury car manufacturer, the G 400d exudes sustainability, and an ‘Environmental Certificate’ has been awarded to it, following the international standards ISO 14001 and ISO/TR 14062, for excelling in ‘Design for Environment’. The brand says that the G 400d's 41 components, weighing 35.9 kg, are constructed of recycled polymers generated from vehicle-related waste streams. Inside, the new car reflects sportiness with a slick finish of Nappa leather upholstery and a Burmester® surround sound system. Exclusive G Manufaktur upholstery and equipment are available as options. The unique line interior kit also includes ionization of the interior air, silver chrome air vents, etc. 

Mercedes-Benz G-Class G400d: Powertrain & Off-road Capabilities 

The new model is powered by a powerful in-line six-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 326bhp and 700Nm at 1200rpm to 3200rpm. Mercedes-Benz NANOSLIDE® cylinder barrels are used in this engine. The car can go from a standstill to 100km/h in 6.4 seconds and claims a top speed of 210km/h. The core framework of this G-Class model is a robust ladder frame composed of steel up to 3.4 mm thick. According to the manufacturer, its low design position protects the underbody and the bodywork from harm. The brand has further shared that the new G400d features an impressive ground clearance o 241mm and 700mm water fording depth, which offers smooth control in the most difficult off-road conditions. It gets 'G Mode' for off-road driving.

G CLASS Adventure Edition

The G-Class 400d has two variants: the Adventure Edition and the sporty G 400d AMG Line. Prices of both these versions start at Rs 2.55 crore (ex-showroom). According to the firm, the India-specific Adventure Edition intends to meet the interests of car enthusiasts who prefer outdoor activities. It has a roof rack with C profile rails, a logo projector in the outside mirror, a removable ladder at the rear with anti-slip coating, etc. The G 400d 'Adventure Edition' is available in four exclusive colours for the Indian market: G Manufaktur desert sand non-metallic, G Manufaktur south seas blue metallic, G Manufaktur travertine beige metallic, and G Manufaktur vintage blue non-metallic.

On the other hand, the G 400d AMG Line is said to have been designed for those performance buffs. The G 400d AMG Line's features include a dynamic multi-functional steering wheel, multi-beam LED headlights, and a stainless steel spare wheel cover.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class G400d: Bookings, Prices & Availability 

As mentioned, prices for the Mercedes-Benz G-Class 400d begin at Rs 2.55 crore (ex-showroom) in India. The new G 400d can be booked by paying a fee of Rs 1.5 Lakh. According to the brand, Bookings for the new G 400d will first be made available solely to existing Mercedes-Benz customers in a customer-first approach. Deliveries of the car are anticipated to start in early Q4 2023.
