Mercedes Benz GLS Facelift Front

Mercedes-Benz will introduce the much-anticipated GLS facelift on January 8 in India. In April, the car's updated version made its global premiere, sporting several technical and design changes. After much anticipation, it will finally go on sale in our market, with an estimated price tag of Rs 1.50 crore (ex-showroom). The existing price structure of the high-end Mercedes-Benz GLS in India ranges from Rs 1.04 crore to Rs 2.43 crore (both prices, ex-showroom). It comes in three variants—GLS 400 d 4MATIC, 450 4MATIC, and Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC—and competes with the BMW X7, the Bentley Bentayga and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. As the launch of the Mercedes-Benz GLS is around the corner, let's take a closer look at the anticipated features, styling, and drivetrain.

Mercedes-Benz GLS Facelift: What's New Outside and Inside?

In general, facelifts come with maximum upgrades on the cosmetic front. In keeping with this, Mercedes-Benz has updated the GLS SUV with a few additional features both inside and out. The car will have an updated and bigger grille with four horizontal louvers finished in Silver Shadow. Other notable exterior changes include a reworked LED headlight pattern, a modified front bumper with gloss black surrounds, and a fresh air intake design. The Mercedes-Benz GLS Facelift will also be equipped with the brand-new 20-inch wheels.

The seven-seater will have two brand-new upholstery options: Catalana Brown and Bahia Brown. It will come equipped with a new infotainment unit that uses the up-to-date version of MBUX and features three different display modes—Classic, Sporty, and Discreet. A Parking Package is included with the car. It provides a full 360-degree view at slow speeds as well as an off-road mode with multiple camera viewpoints surrounding the vehicle, such as an angle from beneath the front bumper—a feature called the Transparent bonnet by the automaker.

Mercedes-Benz GLS Facelift: Unchanged Powertrain?

The luxury carmaker hasn't released any official information, but the new GLS is expected to retain its previous mechanical specifications. The GLS 450 4Matic is propelled via a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine, whereas the GLS 400d 4Matic is driven by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel mill. Both of these versions will come standard with a 4Matic AWD system and a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
