Mercedes-Benz S-Class Connoisseur’s Edition Launched

Mercedes-Benz launches more opulent Connoisseur’s Edition variants in S 350d and S 400 guise with prices being pegged at Rs. 1.21 crore and Rs. 1.32 crore, respectively.

Mercedes-Benz has launched a new version of its flagship saloon, the S-Class in the form of this new ‘Connoisseur’s Edition’ variant. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Connoisseur’s Edition is available in the S 400 petrol model and the S 350d diesel model. In addition to the standard car, the new S-Class Connoisseur’s Edition comes with some rather useful additional equipment in the form of the company’s Night View Assist Plus night vision system, an executive rear seat package and Merc’s Air Balance feature for the air conditioning system.

First up let’s talk about the most prominent new feature here in form of the night vision system. The system comes with two anti-dazzle infrared lamps, an infrared camera located behind the IRVM, a thermal imaging camera and a spot light function. The infrared camera and lights provide a grey scale live image as far as the headlamp beams of the car can reach and pass on the image to the cockpit display of the car. Meanwhile the thermal imaging camera picks up everything from the traffic sign combinations, bushes to pedestrians and animals. The spotlight function flashes at any hazard ahead to make the driver more aware instantly. As standard, the night view image only appears automatically when a hazardous situation is recognized.

The executive seat package allows the seat behind the front passenger to be electrically reclined up to 43.5 degrees, it also comes with extended thigh support along with an electrically extending foot rest that allows the occupant to fall off to sleep in comfort. To ensure safety in the reclined position the seat belt comes with a cushion bag to prevent the occupant from sliding beneath the seat belt in the event of a frontal collision.

As for the air balance perfume package with air ionization, it helps to optimize air filtration of the outside and recirculating air. Owners can choose from a choice of six fragrances in which the glovebox mounted fragrance flask comes in.

The Mercedes-Benz S 400 Connoisseur’s Edition retails at Rs. 1.32 crore (ex-showroom Pune) while the S 350 d Connoisseur’s Edition is priced at Rs. 1.21 crore (ex-showroom Pune).
