The Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven concept, revealed last year as a tribute to the '70s C111 prototype, is now on display at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai. According to the German company, the two-seat Vision One-Eleven concept is a 'progressive interpretation of a '70s brand icon', clubbed with a 'one-bow' design language seen on the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS Concept, which made its debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Speaking of, the Vision One-Eleven concept features a smooth, curvy appearance with flowing bodywork and gullwing doors. The low-slung front fascia is characterised by a 'pixelated' grille with circular fog headlamps, as well as a long bonnet, raked windshield, three hash-mark vents behind the headlamps, and a carbon-fibre splitter underneath the display panel. The rear mimics the front with dual round taillamps on the pixelated rear graphics. There is also a large spoiler and an aggressive diffuser at the rear. Apart from the 300 SL-like gullwing doors, the side profile boasts 22-inch wheels (with heavily bulged wheel arches), and carbon-fibre sills with 'blade' elements. At 1,168mm, the Vision One-Eleven is about 51mm taller than the C111.

The pixelated motif continues on the inside too, with a touchscreen display that runs the company's latest MBUX software. The seats with silver upholstery are integrated into the chassis, and the drive is close to the pedals, F1-style steering wheel, and seatbacks – offering the driver a comfy and suitable driving position.

Per Mercedes-Benz, the interior 'reflects the paradigm shift from [a] self-driven sports car to [an] autonomous electric vehicle within the super sports car segment and unites two completely different states of being.' For that reason, the company offers two modes – Race and Lounge. The latter is aimed at autonomous driving. The dashboard is upholstered in a white fabric made of 100 per cent recycled polyester. Interior bits also include brushed aluminium accents and bright orange leather.

Mercedes-Benz Vision One-Eleven: Powertrain

Under the hood, the Vision One-Eleven gets two axial-flux electric motors designed by YASA, a British electric motor specialist based in Oxford. The motors are more power-dense, efficient, and compact than the radial-flux traction motors seen in other Mercedes EVs. They draw power from a battery that uses 'high-performance liquid-cooled cylindrical cells with a novel cell chemistry'. Power and Range figures are still awaited.
