Mercedes GLA 45 AMG launched at Rs. 69.60 lakhs

Mercedes-Benz today launched a peppier and more performance oriented version of its GLA Class – the GLA 45 AMG – at Rs. 69.60 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai)

It seems that Mercedes is in no mood to leave any stone unturned in its attempt to lure customers with as many options as possible. The latest to join the German family is the AMG version of Mercedes GLA Class. Under the hood is the most powerful four-cylinder engine used for production cars that is 2-litre and churns out a maximum of 355bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 450Nm of torque that kicks in at 2,250rpm.

If you want to know what it boils down to in the real world then fancy this – the GLA 45 AMG will touch the 100 kmph mark from zero in mere 4.8 seconds and the top speed is restricted to 250 kmph. The power is transferred to all the wheels using Mercedes’s 4Matic system and a 7-speed AMG SpeedShift gearbox. It also makes it the only GLA that is all-wheel driven as the regular GLA versions are front-wheel driven.

The Mercedes GLA 45 AMG also boasts of AMG high performance braking system, AMG sports exhaust system with exhaust flap, AMG sports suspension, Curve Dynamic Assist system with a three stage Electronic Stability Program and AMG sports steering. All these things clubbed together mean that the car is extremely easy to play around with on the corners without compromising on performance or safety. These things also enable this potent SUV to turn into a sports car whenever you are in a mood to have some fun. The looks of the car ensure that no one mistakes it with a stock GLA. A little flashy for our likes to be honest, but the car has 19” alloy wheels, red brake calipers, side skirts and Turbo AMG badging all around.

This is Mercedes’s 6th offering to the Indian market of the performance oriented AMG variants. Before the GLA 45 AMG, Mercedes has been selling E 63 AMG, CLA 45 AMG, SLK 55 AMG, G 63 AMG and ML 63 AMG in India under the AMG badge.
