Mercedes-Benz has issued a safety recall in India for its premium models, including the S-Class and Maybach S-Class (petrol), the AMG SL (petrol), the GLC-Class (both petrol and diesel), and the electric EQS, due to a potential fire risk. The recall affects a total of 30 units, comprising 16 EQS electric vehicles produced between July 19, 2023, and April 8, 2024, and nine S-Class and Maybach S-Class petrol versions, built between July 22, 2023, and March 20, 2024. The GLC-Class accounts for three vehicles, manufactured from September 9 to December 4, 2023. Lastly, only two units of the AMG SL, made between July 5 and August 28, 2023, are part of the recall. Let’s take a closer look at the details of the safety recall.
According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the defective fuse box, a key component that protects the car’s electrical systems, is the cause of the most recent recall of Mercedes-Benz cars.

The company identified that some fuse boxes may not have been correctly installed during manufacturing. This could fail connected systems, causing the vehicle to lose propulsion unexpectedly. Moreover, restraint functions or the instrument cluster could be impaired, increasing the likelihood of a crash and injuries.
It's also possible, though rare, that this could lead to a thermal incident (overheating or fire) in the car.
If your vehicle is part of the recall, it's advisable to contact the company.
