2021 MG Astor 1

The official price announcement of the MG Astor mid-size SUV has been pushed ahead by a week and we shall have the complete variant wise price break up by next Monday.

MG India’s newest offering, the Astor was supposed to be launched in India today. However, the British carmaker has postponed the launch of the MG Astor to next week. The MG Astor will be launched on October 11, 2021.

This new mid-size SUV from MG will be its most affordable offering in the Indian market. The prices are expected to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), which is almost Rs 3.5 lakh lower than the base price of the MG Hector.

We have already driven the MG Astor at the Buddh International Circuit and you can find the review by clicking on the link here.

The MG Astor will be an apt rival to mid-size SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the recently launched Volkswagen Taigun. The crossovers such as the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will rival some variants of the MG Astor as well. The Renault Duster and the Nissan Kicks cannot be discounted from the mid-size SUV segment too.

MG Astor Shoot Interior Dashboard

The MG Astor will be available with two engine options. A 1.5-litre NA petrol engine that will come mated with either a five-speed manual or an eight-speed CVT. The power figures for this motor are 108bhp and 144Nm.

The higher variants will be offered with a 1.35-litre turbo-petrol motor and a six-speed torque converter automatic. With a power figure of 138bhp and 220Nm of torque, the overall output is at par with the segment.

The MG Astor will also feature a segment-first level-two autonomous driving tech and artificial intelligence. Hill Descent Control, heated ORVMs, power steering modes, and a Digital Bluetooth Key are a few features that are segment-first as well.
