JSW MG Motor India has confirmed that the prices of its cars will increase by up to 2% from April 1, 2026, due to the rising input costs. However, models sold under the premium MG Select channel, including the Cyberster and M9, will not be unaffected by this hike. The brand has not disclosed variant-wise price increases, but industry reports suggest that the MG car prices could go up by Rs 15,000 to Rs 86,000, depending on the model. Currently, the brand portfolio in India includes models like the Comet EV, ZS EV, Hector, Astor, and Gloster. Notably, the most recent announcement by MG syncs with a broader industry trend, with brands like Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Tata Motors also revising prices across the lineup at the beginning of FY2026-27.

The upcoming price increase on the MG Cars is expected to have a mixed impact on both the brand and its customers. The revision will enable the brand to partially absorb rising input and production costs, enabling it to maintain margins without altering its product strategy or feature offerings. Meanwhile, it could lead to slightly higher entry and ownership costs for prospective buyers, particularly for models in the mid-size SUV and EV segments.

Those already planning to purchase an MG car could be encouraged to advance their decision ahead of the hike, while first-time buyers may perceive reduced value in some variants post revision. That said, with brands like Audi and Tata Motors also implementing price increases, MG’s overall value proposition is unlikely to be impacted in the broader market.

Other Highlights

The MG Windsor was the second best-selling electric car in February 2026, with 2,599 units sold. It is available in three trims (Excite, Essence, and Exclusive) and four colour options, including Starburst Black and Turquoise Green. The Pro variant upgrades the experience with a larger battery and longer range, while the standard 38kWh battery delivers 134bhp, 200Nm of torque, and a range of 332 kilometres on a single charge.
