MG Hector Gets Cheaper in India, Price Now Starts at Rs 13.99 Lakh

MG Motors India has announced a price cut on the Hector, bringing the starting price of the SUV down to Rs 13.99 lakh from Rs 14.95 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, the entry-level Style 1.5 petrol MT variant of the Hector is now Rs 96,000 more affordable. At the top of the heap sits the Savvy Pro, priced at Rs 21.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the company has introduced two new mid-spec variants: Shine Pro and Select Pro, replacing the Shine and Smart variants, respectively. The former is priced from Rs 16 lakh to Rs 17.70 lakh, while the latter ranges between Rs 17.30 lakh and Rs 18.70 lakh. The prices are ex-showroom.

MG Hector Shine Pro

The new Shine Pro and Select Pro variants remain the same in terms of design and powertrain; however, they pack more features and equipment than their outgoing counterparts. The Shine Pro adds LED projector headlights, LED DRLs, sequential LED turn indicators, 17-inch alloy wheels, front and rear fog lights, a 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a 6-speaker sound system, a single-pane sunroof, push-button start, cruise control, and wireless charger. 

MG Hector Select Pro

The one positioned after the Shine Pro is the Select Pro, which replaces the Smart variant. The new Select Pro adds a panoramic sunroof, interior LED reading lights, larger 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8-speaker sound system with a woofer and amplifier, and connected car tech. With the latest rejig, the price of the MG Hector now starts at Rs 13.99 lakh. MG Hector: Powertrain

Under the hood, the MG Hector SUV gets two engine options: a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. The former churns out 141bhp and 250Nm of peak torque, while the latter makes 168bhp and 350Nm. A six-speed transmission is standard, while a CVT is offered only with a turbo-petrol mill. 

MG Hector Plus Also Gets New Select Pro

The new Select Pro variant has also been introduced on the seven-seater Hector Plus, with prices ranging from Rs 18 lakh for the Petrol MT to Rs 19.60 lakh for the Diesel MT. On the other hand, the six-seater Hector Plus gets a new base variant in the form of Style, priced at Rs 17 lakh for the Diesel MT. All prices are ex-showroom.

MG Comet Gets Faster 7.4kW AC charger

In EV-related news, the Comet EV, MG's most affordable electric vehicle, gets a faster 7.4kW AC charging option, among a list of other updates. As a result, the MG Comet EV comes in a total of five variants: Executive, Excite, Excite FC, Exclusive, and Exclusive FC. The prices of the first two remain unchanged, whereas the Exclusive variant is now Rs 20,000 more expensive than before. Meanwhile, the newly added Excite FC and the Exclusive FC variants of the hatchback are priced at Rs 8.24 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 9.14 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively, although the company has yet to disclose their charging time.
