MG Hector Shine variant India launch on August 12

Just after updating the Savvy variant of the Gloster, MG Motors is all set to introduce a new mid-spec variant of the Hector. The new variant is called the Shine, and it is expected to have a more strategic price tag.

MG Motors has confirmed a new variant for the Hector SUV. The new variant will be called the Shine and the launch has been scheduled for August 12. Currently, the MG Hector is sold in four variants – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. The new Shine variant will most likely be positioned between the Smart and the Sharp variant of the MG Hector.

There are spy shots surfacing the internet that shows the MG Hector equipped with a single pane sunroof. Currently, the Hector is offered with a panoramic sunroof in its top-spec Sharp variant. The lower variants miss out on the sunroof option. The new Shine variant is likely to be an affordable option for buyers looking for a sunroof at a more accessible price point.

Additionally, the media invite focuses on the grille that also shows a camera – part of the 360-degree camera function – right underneath the MG logo.

The 360-degree camera is a feature available with the Sharp variant only. With the addition of the Shine variant, MG Motors could plan on offering this safety feature at a lower price.

Hence it is suspected that the Shine variant of the MG Hector is like to be positioned between the Sharp and the Smart variant at a very strategic price point.

Currently, the petrol-automatic model of the Hector Sharp is priced at Rs 18.70 lakh and the Smart manual-hybrid variant costs Rs 16.38 lakh. The petrol-powered Hector Shine variant is likely to cost close to Rs 17.50 lakh.

The highest-spec diesel Hector Sharp variant demands Rs 19.21 lakh, while the variant lower than that, the Hector Smart asks for Rs 17.80 lakh. The diesel model of the MG Hector Shine is most likely to see a sticker price close to Rs. 18.70 lakh. All the prices mentioned in the story are ex-showroom.
