The Cooper S, which was added to the MINI family a few hours ago, with its new TwinPower Turbo engine will add more performance to the already fun-to-drive range of MINI cars.

We had a MINI Cooper with us last month and you must have read about it in our 100th Issue special. The three-cylinder MINI performed exceptionally well at the BIC with its agility and the handling which makes it feel like a go-kart.

Well, the German carmaker added more fun to the existing line-up a few hours ago in Pune by adding Cooper S to the current range. The four-cylinder Cooper S is not only faster, more aggressive and refined than any other MINI, but also offers new enhanced driving dynamics.

The Cooper S will be powered by the all-new TwinPower Turbo petrol engine which is a four-cylinder unit delivering 280Nm torque and 189bhp of power. The engine has been made from scratch and is aimed at providing fun like no other MINI car. The Cooper S will hit the 100km/h mark from zero in 6.7 seconds and will reach the top speed of 233km/h.

Commenting on the launch of the Cooper S, Mr. Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India said, “MINI never stops to surprise you. Just when you thought we could not possibly make the new MINI any more exciting, we did exactly that. MINIs have always had a knack for speed and agility and the new MINI Cooper S takes that passion even further. The powerful MINI TwinPower Turbo four cylinder engine takes the classic MINI go-kart feeling to new heights as it revels in the mind-blowing force of increased power and acceleration. The new MINI Cooper S is furiously fun and ready to dominate the Indian streets like never before.”

The MINI Cooper S has been priced at Rs. 34,65,000 (ex-showroom, India) and the car will be made available in the Indian market through the CBU route. The new MINI Cooper S will be available in Pepper White and Volcano Orange in the matte finish and in the following nine metallic colour schemes – Moonwalk Grey, Blazing Red, Lapisluxury Blue, British Racing Green, Iced Chocolate, Thunder Grey, Deep Blue, White Silver and Midnight Black.
