BMW India has opened pre-bookings for the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe, with its official India launch set for July 17. Locally manufactured at BMW’s Chennai plant, this sporty four-door coupe introduces a sharper design, a more engaging driving experience, and a tech-rich cabin centered around BMW’s new Curved Widescreen Display and Operating System 9. Under the hood, it will be initially available in a petrol-only 218i guise, powered by a 1.5‑litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing around 154bhp, paired with an 8-speed automatic. This launch positions the 2 Series Gran Coupe as a stylish, tech-forward option in the compact luxury segment for young, urban professionals.
BMW’s upcoming 2 Series Gran Coupe continues with a front-wheel-drive configuration, similar to its previous generation. Visually, it adopts a sharper and more modern appearance with a newly illuminated kidney grille and slimmer adaptive LED headlamps. The 218i variant, offered only in the M Sport trim for India, sports more dynamic bumpers with angular surfaces and gloss-black styling accents. It comes fitted with 18-inch dual-tone alloys in a multi-spoke pattern as standard.

The new model retains the same 2,670mm wheelbase and 1,800mm width, but overall dimensions have increased. It is now 4,546mm long (20mm more) and 1,445mm tall (25mm higher). Luggage space stands at a comfortable 430 litres.
Step inside and the cabin focuses on digital minimalism, with a clean dashboard layout featuring a curved glass surface that merges a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display with a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. Both screens run BMW’s latest OS9 and are angled towards the driver for ease of use. The M Sport interior includes mocha brown upholstery by default, with lighter colour options also offered.
Key features include a 360-degree camera system, wireless charging pad, panoramic sunroof, digital key with remote controls (lock/unlock, pre-cool cabin, boot access), ADAS functions, and wireless smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
