BMW has revealed the second-generation iX3, the first model to go into production under its Neue Klasse electric line-up. Taking its design cues from the 2024 Vision Neue Klasse X concept, the new iX3 represents a key step in the brand’s electrification plans. Powering the latest iX3 is a 108.7kWh battery combined with an 800-volt system, built to handle rapid charging. BMW plans to add Neue Klasse technologies to 40 new models and updates by 2027.
Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, said: 'The Neue Klasse is our biggest future project and marks a huge leap in terms of technologies, driving experience and design. Practically everything about it is new, yet it is also more BMW than ever. Our entire product range will benefit from the innovations of the Neue Klasse – regardless of the drive technology.

'What started as a bold vision has now become reality: the BMW iX3 is the first Neue Klasse model to go into series production. We are not only bringing the next generation of one of our most successful fully electric vehicles onto the road, we are launching a new era for BMW.'
The front bumper of the 2025 BMW iX3 features vertically aligned kidney grilles, which reference the Neue Klasse models from the 1960s. Slim headlights incorporate a revised light signature, supporting the brand’s updated design language. The model measures 4,782mm in length, 1,895mm in width, and 1,635mm in height, and achieves a drag coefficient of 0.24Cd through aerodynamic improvements.

At the rear, the BMW iX3 has unconnected tail-lights arranged in a slanted pattern that reinterpret BMW’s L-shaped signature. The rear spoiler and bumper are redesigned to match the updated styling. The vehicle has flat surfaces with flush door handles to improve aerodynamics and squared wheel arches painted in body colour. Standard 20-inch alloy wheels are included, with optional light alloys ranging from 20 to 22 inches available.
The interior of the new BMW iX3 is futuristic to say the least. Built on an electric-only platform, the SUV offers generous cabin space and a noticeably cleaner design approach. The slim “floating” dashboard, fabric surfaces with hidden backlighting, and glass areas create a lounge-like atmosphere, while the optional panoramic roof floods the cabin with light.

Technology takes centre stage with BMW’s latest Panoramic iDrive, running on the new Operating System X. The setup blends screens, controls and lighting into one layered interface. Adding to that EV character is the HypersonX soundscape, developed as part of BMW’s Neue Klasse, which delivers distinctive driving sounds in place of an engine note. Revised seats, a sportier steering wheel and a wide rear bench underline both comfort and driver focus.
Buyers will get a wide choice of finishes, from sustainable Econeer fabric to premium Merino leather, along with M Sport and M Sport Pro trims for those chasing sportier styling. The driver’s seat and front passenger seat are heated and electrically adjustable as standard.
The new BMW iX3 will come with an 11kW AC charger as standard, suitable for overnight charging, while a 22kW unit is available as an option for faster turnaround. At launch, the iX3 50 xDrive variant debuts with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup delivering 462bhp and 645Nm of torque. This configuration enables the SUV to accelerate from 0–100km/h in 4.9 seconds, with a maximum speed electronically limited to 210km/h.

With an increased battery capacity, the iX3 achieves a WLTP-certified range between 679km and 805km on a single charge. These figures position it as a long-distance electric option in BMW’s line-up.

The SUV can take on DC fast charging at up to 400kW, adding up to 372km of range in just ten minutes. A 10 to 80 per cent charge can be completed in about 21 minutes, giving drivers more confidence to cover long distances without extended charging halts.
The new BMW iX3 will enter production later this year and will compete with models such as the Audi Q6 e-tron and the upcoming Mercedes GLC EV.
