New Honda Amaze

Honda will be launching its all-new second-generation Amaze in India around mid-May.

Earlier this month, Honda Car India had opened bookings for the all-new Amaze at Rs. 21,000. It has now come to light that the Japanese car maker will launch the new compact sedan in India on the 16th of May.

The second-generation Honda Amaze makes a radical departure from its predecessor in terms of design. It looks like a bigger car now, as It’s built on a new platform developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific, hence departing from the Brio hatchback platform of the earlier car. This new platform has made the Amaze lighter than the outgoing model by 17kg for the petrol and 23kg for the diesel.

Gone is the sloping bonnet, and instead you get a more horizontal face characterised by a flat nose, thick chrome grille (like new Hondas) and a flat and high-set bonnet. The car looks taller now and has a very grown up and sedan-like rear end design too.

In line with the new design theme, the interior of the Amaze is all-new as well, and the car is likely to offer more features and improved in-cabin comfort levels.

Under the hood, the new Honda Amaze will continue to be powered by the company’s 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol engine and 1.5 litre, four cylinder, i-DTEC turbo diesel engine. Both engines will retain their current setups and deliver identical power and torque outputs.

Honda will most likely launch the Amaze in 4 variants – E, S, V and VX. The top-end, VX, variant will get an updated version of the infotainment system used by the current Honda City, BR-V and WR-V.
