Even though Hyundai did not reveal the new Elantra at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, its a fairly open secret that they plan to bring the premium sedan in India. Hyundai have already started testing the new Elantra in India as the South Korean manufacturer is very serious about the luxury sedan segment. The new Elantra first broke cover in Korea September last year.

Hyundai is well-known for its fearless strategy when it comes re-designing its next generation cars and the new Elantra is no exception. The automobile maker has decided to boot the Fludic design philosophy, which was starting to look conservative, and go all aggressive. It gets an in-your-face hexagonal grille, like the upcoming Tucson and the new Sonata, with large chrome slats. The design of the car is a  lot more swept back and could even be called sporty. With sloping A and C-pillars, the silhouette of the new Elantra certainly does come across a lot more stylish. Also with a high body line, the stance of this premium sedan is quite exquisite. The Elantra comes standard with LED-trimmed projection headlights and alloys, while the top variant is equipped with LED driving lights and LED taillights.

Dimensions wise little has changed as the new Elantra's length is 4,570mm, which is only 40mm longer than older model. Width wise too there is only a fraction of difference as the new version's dimension is 1,800mm to 1,775mm. Though the older Elantra remains taller in height, 1,470mm compared to 1435mm, but the wheelbase of two cars remain identical, 2,700mm.

We can't comment on engine specifications yet as there is still no clear picture on whether Hyundai plans to introduce a new range of engines in India or will they simply retain the 1.8-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engines from the current Elantra version.
