The eighth-generation Lexus ES sedan will launch in India on 20 March, introducing a major update to the luxury line-up. This model follows a global debut last year and is built on an updated version of the TNGA-K platform. While the architecture now supports both hybrid and fully electric powertrains globally, the Indian market will continue to receive the hybrid configuration at launch. The new generation aims to progress the nameplate through a revised design, updated cabin technology, and refined proportions.

The exterior design moves away from the previous generation and takes inspiration from the LF-ZC concept. At the front, the traditional spindle grille is replaced by a cleaner bumper design with a small air intake positioned at the base. Diamond-pattern elements sit on either side of the bumper. The lighting setup includes Z-shaped daytime running lamps and horizontally placed projector headlamps. The roofline now flows in a more sloping direction, giving the sedan a coupe-style profile when viewed from the side.

The sedan has increased in size, measuring 15 mm longer than its predecessor, while the wheelbase has grown by 50 mm. Along the side, a strong crease line runs across the body and is highlighted with gloss black trim. Lexus has also introduced new alloy wheel designs for the model. At the rear, the ES features a slim LED light bar stretching across the width of the boot lid, along with illuminated branding. These changes result in a wider stance and a lower centre of gravity compared with the previous model.
Inside the cabin, the ES adopts a technology-focused layout with a reduction in physical buttons across the dashboard. A freestanding 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system becomes the main interface, while a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster provides driving information.

Lexus has added hidden switches beneath the dashboard surface that illuminate when the vehicle is active. Expected features for India include a 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system and three-zone climate control.
The ES for India will continue with a petrol-hybrid powertrain. The ES 300h uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor to produce a combined 198bhp, with power delivered through an e-CVT gearbox. Globally, Lexus also offers a more powerful ES 350h producing 244bhp.

In India, the new ES will compete with the long-wheelbase versions of the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Safety equipment includes the Lexus Safety System+ suite, featuring adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and a driver monitoring system. Prices for the updated sedan are expected to start at around Rs 70 lakh, with local assembly continuing in India.
