New Maruti Suzuki Dzire Spotted Testing Alongside Next-gen Swift, to Get Sunroof?

Maruti Suzuki is anticipated to launch the upgraded Dzire and the Swift in India soon. However, before that, the cars were spotted doing high-altitude testing near Kufri and Narkanda. Given that the vehicles were completely camouflaged, there isn't much information on their design. However, the sunroof—an interesting feature on the redesigned sedan (Dzire)—drew attention in the spy pictures. Though it is not confirmed, a sunroof on the Maruti Suzuki Dzire production model would mark a first for both the moniker and the segment. 

The launch timelines for Maruti Suzuki's two best-selling models have not been disclosed, but market reports suggest that the revised models could go on sale shortly. The reports further predict that the new-generation Swift will arrive followed by the redesigned Dzire. In contrast to their respective outgoing models, both will be priced higher. Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Swift: A Peek Into Spy Shots 

It's expected that the Swift and the Dzire will see significant modifications to their designs. As can be seen in the images, the overall profile of the Dzire has been modified to make the rear portion look smooth. On the other hand, the Swift appears sharper than before. The next-generation Swift has been revealed globally, but the India-spec version may see little changes. Talking specifically about the Dzire, the car will most likely receive a new grille, revised bumpers, a slimmer LED headlamp cluster, relocated fog lamps, and a broader bonnet. Except for a new alloy wheel design, the side profile of the compact vehicle is anticipated to remain mostly the same. The interior of the car may feature a revamped HVAC panel and centre console, modified air conditioning vents, automatic climate management, a semi-digital instrument cluster, a wireless charger, redesigned seat upholstery, and a floating infotainment system with wireless smartphone connection.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Swift: Under the Bonnet

As mentioned, Maruti Suzuki has not disclosed any specifics regarding the Dzire or the new Swift. Market reports, however, indicate that the upcoming models will house a brand-new three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine under their bonnets. This will be a big change from the four-cylinder K-series engine that is already in use. The new engine comes equipped with a CVT automatic gearbox in the global market. It is capable of producing a peak power output of roughly 80bhp and a maximum torque output of 108Nm. In our market, the new engine might come with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The automatic variants may get a CVT or a 5-speed AMT, the latter is more likely.
