Maruti Suzuki has a teaser image for the new Swift launching in May 2024, with the text reading: "Introducing the New Epic Swift". The teaser photo provides a good look at the vehicle's front fascia. From what we can discern, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift features an evolutionary design with sharper LED headlamps, a redesigned grille, a revised bumper, and a red exterior colour. While other exterior bits are not visible, we expect the 2024 Swift to offer new alloy wheels and door handles along the sides, as well as redesigned LED tail lamps at the rear. However, it is expected to retain the same silhouette as the existing model.

On the inside, the changes will include a floating touchscreen infotainment system, a new console for AC functions, a bigger MID (multi-information display), a 3-spoke steering wheel, and all-LED lighting. Also, the vehicle could borrow USB-C charging ports and rear AC vents from the Fronx. Safety-wise, expect the hatchback to pack in six airbags as standard, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESP), and 3-point seatbelts for the rear occupants. While the model at Tokyo Motor Show 2023 had ADAS features and rear disc brakes, it is unlikely that the India-spec Swift will get the same.

For those not aware, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift made its international debut at the Tokyo Motor Show 2023. It is now in its fourth generation and is already on sale in Japan, the UK, and certain European markets.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Powertrain

The Japan-spec Maruti Suzuki Swift gets a Z Series 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which will also power the India-spec Swift. Expect the power and torque figures to be similar to those of the existing K Series 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol unit. For reference, the K12 engine develops 89bhp and 113Nm of peak torque. As for the transmission, we expect the upcoming vehicle to offer both manual and automatic units, although the company has yet to make it official.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Price, Rivals

The launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Suzuki will likely take place on May 9. However, prior to this, Maruti Suzuki has commenced bookings for the same. Interested buyers can make reservations at Rs 11,000. Price-wise, we expect the new Swift to range between Rs 6.5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon its launch in the Indian market, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift will rival the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios (Rs 5.92 lakh to Rs 8.23 lakh) and the Tata Punch (Rs 6.13 lakh to Rs 9.60 lakh).
