Toyota has globally unveiled the latest iteration of its RAV4 SUV. Departing from conventional upgrades, the new model introduces hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, reinforcing the brand’s shift toward electrified offerings. A standout addition is the integration of Toyota’s Arene software system – a cutting-edge digital platform that redefines how the vehicle interacts with drivers through enhanced infotainment, voice control, and advanced safety features. The 22.7kWh unit in the plug-in hybrid variant delivers an electric-only range of up to 100 km. With production and sales planned for major markets including Japan, Europe, and North America by early 2026, Toyota is also exploring localised manufacturing in the U.S. to address tariff concerns. This unveiling marks a strategic evolution in Toyota’s approach to innovation, blending sustainable engineering with intelligent vehicle architecture.
Toyota has revealed its 2026 RAV4 lineup, offering a diverse range of trims including Rugged, Core, Woodland, Sport, and an aggressive GR Sport edition. The updated SUV features the signature ‘Hammerhead’ headlamp and taillamp design. Its overall shape has taken on a more commanding and boxy stance, highlighted by larger, squared wheel arches that emphasise its off-road capabilities.
Wheel sizes will vary by region, with 17-, 18-, and 19-inch options available. The GR Sport variant focuses on enhanced performance, boasting a 20mm wider track, sport-tuned suspension, lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels, and specialised dampers for improved driving dynamics.
All powertrain options for the new RAV4 are hybrid-based. Customers can choose between a self-charging hybrid or a plug-in hybrid, both available in front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. The self-charging hybrid produces 181bhp in front-drive and 188bhp in all-wheel drive versions, while the plug-in hybrid delivers 264bhp in front-drive and 300bhp in all-wheel drive setups.

The plug-in variant is equipped with a 22.7kWh battery capable of providing up to 100 km of pure electric range (WLTP) and supports DC fast charging up to 50 kW.
Inside, the sixth-generation RAV4 has undergone a significant tech transformation, replacing most traditional knobs with touchscreen controls.
Key features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, an improved T-Mate system, secondary collision braking, an enhanced pre-collision system, and front cross-traffic alert, and an option between a 10.5-inch or a 12.9-inch infotainment display, both powered by Toyota’s latest Arene software platform.
The GR Sport cabin adorns sporty bucket seats, aluminum pedals, and distinct GR branding. In select markets, there’s also a rugged Adventure trim, which includes a wider stance, a more upright grille design, and unique wheel arch cladding.
