The interior of the next-generation model has been spied overseas for the first time. Although the test car is heavily camouflaged, it appears to feature a redesigned steering wheel and a curved display that combines the touchscreen infotainment unit with a fully digital instrument cluster. It also features dark grey fabric-upholstered seats, alongside a manual gear lever and a traditional handbrake setup. Features-wise, the new-gen Hyundai i20 is expected to carry forward sunroof, an integrated dashcam, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless phone charging. That said, Hyundai could introduce ADAS along with a 360-degree surround-view camera to enhance the premium hatchback’s safety. More details regarding its design updates, feature list, and specifications are likely to surface soon.

The fourth-gen i20 appears to retain its silhouette while incorporating a few notable elements to distinguish it from the current model. Possible exterior upgrades include a redesigned grille, a more sculpted bonnet with sharper lines, and slim LED headlamps complemented by high-mounted daytime running lights, revised bumpers, new dual-tone alloy wheels, a sharper window line, and updated ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. The new-gen i20 is also likely to sport new taillights and a high-mounted stop lamp.

Mechanically, the next-gen i20 is likely to continue with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 83bhp. Meanwhile, the N Line version is also expected to retain the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit with 118bhp.

There is a growing speculation that Hyundai’s new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (set to debut on the Bayon and compatible with hybrid technology) could also be on the cars for the next-gen i20.
Currently, the Hyundai i20 is priced from Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. However, with the significant cosmetic upgrades, additional premium features, and the possible introduction of a hybrid powertrain, the upcoming iteration is expected to command a hefty premium.
