Nissan adds XE diesel variant to Kicks SUV

Launched only with a diesel engine as of now, the XE trim will sit at the bottom of the variant range. It still comes with a bunch of features like a 2 DIN audio system with Bluetooth, automatic climate control, airbags, ABS, EBD and more.

Nissan hasn’t quite hit the jackpot with the Kicks SUV. The company brought in their new SUV in January and has managed to sell just over 3,000 units so far. To attract more buyers, the company has now introduced the car in a new XE variant which will sit at the bottom of the range. The Kicks XE is priced at Rs 9.89 lakh (ex-showroom) - nearly a lakh cheaper than the previous base XL trim. Interestingly, even the new XE base variant of the Kicks comes reasonably well equipped. It comes fitted with automatic climate control with rear AC vents, cooled glove box up front, a 2 DIN audio system paired to 4 speakers, and it also comes with Nissan Connect with more than 50 features. In terms of safety, the Kicks comes fitted with dual airbags, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist too.

Nissan has only brought in the XE with a diesel engine as of now. This car develops 108bhp and 240Nm from a 1.5-litre four-cylinder motor. The motor sends all its power to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The Kicks doesn’t have an automatic transmission option as yet.

Speaking about the addition of the new variant, Sriram Padmanabhan, Vice President - Marketing, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, "Responding to the immense interest in an entry-level diesel variant, we have introduced the new XE Diesel trim. The feature rich new XE Diesel Trim offers a great value proposition to the consumers while ensuring best-in-class services and quality assurance.”

The XE trim of the Kicks with this diesel motor is Rs 1.2 lakh cheaper than the revised prices of the XL trim. The Kicks is now available in two petrol and four diesel variants. Nissan has also revised the price of  the rest of the diesel range. The XL trim now costs Rs 11.09 lakh while the XV and the XV Pre are priced at Rs 12.51 lakh and Rs 13.69 lakh. All prices ex-showroom Delhi. With the mild increase in price, Nissan has also improved the features list on all the other variants of the Kicks.
