Nissan revealed the Aura Nismo RS Concept at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, and it is an interesting take on what a modern hybrid hot hatch can be. Based on the Note Aura Nismo, this concept goes beyond a visual update and focuses on performance hardware. Nissan has used this car to show how its hybrid systems can work in a driver-focused setup. The Aura Nismo RS Concept brings all-wheel drive into the picture and mixes electric motors with a petrol engine that acts only as a power generator.

For anyone who enjoys compact cars with proper performance intent, this concept feels like a clear signal of where Nissan wants to go next with electrified Nismo models.

The Aura Nismo RS Concept looks wider and lower than the standard car. Nissan has increased the track at both the front and rear, and the body panels have been reworked to match. The ride height is lower by 20mm, giving it a planted stance. Aerodynamic parts are not just for show, with a front splitter, side skirts and a large rear diffuser all fitted. The rear wing sits high and adds to the track-ready feel. Fender vents help with brake cooling, which hints at the extra performance this concept is built to handle.

Inside, the focus stays on the driver. The cabin gets Nismo-branded Recaro sport seats that hold you in place. Alcantara trim covers the steering wheel and gear selector. A digital instrument cluster shows hybrid system details and drive modes, keeping the driver informed at all times.
Power comes from Nissan’s e-Power hybrid system taken from the X-Trail. A 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine produces 142bhp and works only to generate electricity. The front electric motor delivers 201bhp and 330Nm of torque, while the rear motor adds 134bhp and 195Nm. Combined system output stands at 335bhp and 525Nm. The e-4ORCE system provides all-wheel drive, improving traction and control. The battery supports sustained driving without constant petrol engine operation.

Bigger brakes sit behind 19-inch wheels, with four-piston calipers at the front and two-piston units at the rear. Suspension changes include stiffer springs and revised dampers to deal with higher power and grip.
The Nissan Aura Nismo RS Concept acts as a test bed for Nissan’s idea of an electrified hot hatch. Engineers from the motorsport division led the project to study how hybrid systems can match driving involvement. Public response at Tokyo Auto Salon will play a role in what comes next. If the interest is strong, this concept could lead to future production models and expand Nismo’s presence in compact performance cars powered by hybrid technology.
