Nissan Magnite Facelift

The Nissan Magnite and Tata Nexon are strong rivals in the compact SUV market. The Magnite's eye-catching design and remarkable features make it an excellent choice for commuters seeking functionality without sacrificing style. Its efficient engine lineup provides a good balance of power and fuel efficiency, appealing to many drivers. On the other hand, the Tata Nexon has established itself with its robust exterior, impressive safety ratings, and enjoyable driving experience. It also provides a wide range of powertrain options to accommodate a variety of driving preferences. Today, we'll compare these two SUVs based on several variables, including engine, size, and pricing, to determine which is a better choice in the compact SUV segment.

Nissan Magnite vs Tata Nexon: Powertrain

The Magnite is offered with two engine options: a 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1-litre turbo-petrol. In contrast, the Nexon is available with diesel, turbo-petrol, and turbo-petrol CNG units. The Magnite’s naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 71bhp and 96Nm, while the turbo-petrol variant generates 99bhp and 160Nm. Transmission options include a five-speed manual (standard on both engines), a CVT automatic (for the turbo-petrol), and a five-speed automatic transmission.

The Tata Nexon's 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 113bhp and 260Nm, while the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine develops 118bhp and 170Nm. The turbo-petrol engine has four distinct gearbox options (a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual, a seven-speed DCT, and a six-speed AMT).

Compared to the Magnite, the Nexon's turbo variant produces 20bhp more power and up to 18Nm higher torque. The Tata SUV also has an optional turbo-petrol CNG drivetrain.

Unlike the Magnite, the Nexon features ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof. However, it lacks the ambient lighting, which is available in the Magnite. The SUVs come with a 360-degree camera and six airbags. While the Tata SUV offers electronic stability control (ESC), the Magnite does not.
