Nissan Leaf 2023

Nissan plans to introduce solid-state batteries as the replacement for current lithium-ion units. According to industry reports, the new Nissan Leaf EV will use these solid-state batteries. The introduction of more affordable batteries will likely occur before 2028, as production has reportedly begun. Currently, the RDE rules, which will go into effect on April 1 this year, represent a significant advance for the automobile sector. All automakers are therefore revising their product lines to comply with the new emission regulations. On that note, similar modifications have also been made to the Nissan Magnite. The most recent version of the Magnite now comes standard with several safety features in all versions. It now gets hydraulic braking aid, electronic stability control, traction control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, dual airbags, hill start assist, and ABS with EBD. The price of the 2023 Nissan Magnite ranges from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10.58 lakh with these changes. They are both ex-showroom prices.

Nissan Solid-state Batteries: What to Expect?

The carmaker expects to reduce the prices of electric vehicles by approximately 50% with the introduction of these solid-state batteries. Further, these batteries will likely double the energy density and triple the charging speed, according to the carmaker. The new battery technology's button cells measure 10 cm in diameter and are now under development in Japan. According to Nissan, these cells will extend to the size of a laptop at the final stage of development.

Nissan Solid-state Batteries: The Way Ahead

According to Nissan, the launch of these batteries will bolster the growth of EVs all over the world and might include huge pickup trucks and SUVs. Nissan is developing solid-state batteries in collaboration with researchers from the University of Oxford.  The development of this technology is not connected to any vehicle-related projects. This guarantees that there won't be any particular delays in development and also gives these batteries a scalable application. Solid-state battery charging will also assist in lowering the price of electric vehicles.
