The refreshed BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo has made its first auto show debut at the Paris Motor Show.

In June, BMW had revealed the new 3 Series Gran Turismo (GT), now BMW decided to showcase it for the first time to a public gathering in an auto show in Paris. The restyled 3 Series GT that has been showcased at the Paris Motor Show will be launched in India so we decided to have a look.

The 3 Series GT is sold in India only as a 320d 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, TwinPower Turbo diesel that churns out 190hp and 400Nm of torque. We believe the same engine will be sold in India for the new car, but just to be safe from any hostility towards diesel engines from the Indian courts, BMW may throw in a petrol engine as well.

The current 3 Series sedan in India is sold as a 320i, a 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo petrol engine, which internationally BMW has now decided to call the 330i for some reason, but it does make power. This engine may also be offered with the new GT however, for the Indian market it maybe tuned differently. A 3.0-litre turbo V6 petrol engine is also offered globally, but it would seem unnecessary for Indian consumers. Indian consumers, like before, can only expect an eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox as standard with power being sent only to the rear wheels.

The 3 Series GT will get BMW’s latest version of the iDrive system version 5.0 with navigation and the interior wil see some upgrades as well. Additionally, the exterior will have a revised front bumper and new LED headlamp assembly which are designed differently from the previous model with DRLs and fog lamps. The tail lamps are also new LEDs with a slightly redesigned rear bumper.

While Indians have an irrational loathing for estates, but long for practicality, the 3-series GT is just perfect for consumers who are looking for a sporty sedan with added practicality, which is why the 3GT has found many homes in India. Due to that, the new updated car is expected to arrive in India soon.
