The Renault 5 Turbo name has made a comeback in 2025, reimagined as a high-performance electric car. Named the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, it has been developed by Alpine engineers using aluminium and carbon fibre for the chassis. The car measures 4.08 metres long and 2.03 metres wide, built for rigidity and balanced handling. The design reflects the design of the original 1980s rally model while adapted for electric performance. Renault aims to revive its motorsport legacy through a modern format that connects the brand’s past with future electric technology.

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E made its dynamic debut at the 2025 Historic Tour de Corse rally, completing demonstration laps in tribute to its predecessor.
The design keeps the square proportions and strong stance of the original 5 Turbo. Wide wheel arches hold 20-inch wheels, and air inlets are integrated into the bodywork for cooling and function. Carbon fibre panels reduce overall mass and improve strength.

The shape and layout are made for agility and high-speed stability, linking the car’s appearance to its traction-focused purpose.
The interior follows a driver-first setup with digital controls and a compact structure. Functional elements include a roll cage, lightweight seats and minimal trim. The layout supports customisation, with colour and livery options inspired by earlier Renault rally cars.

Each cabin can be configured to match either road or track use, combining required safety features with adaptable controls.
Power comes from two in-wheel motors placed at the rear axle, producing 547bhp and 4,800Nm of torque. A 70kWh battery connects to an 800-volt system supporting 350kW charging capacity. The 0–100km/h time is under 3.5 seconds, and the top speed stands at 269km/h. Digital torque vectoring ensures handling accuracy, while reduced mechanical loss improves power delivery and control.
