Renault Captur Latin NCAP Crash Test Results

Four stars were awarded to the Renault Captur in a crash test conducted by Latin NCAP.

Latin NCAP has tested the Renault Captur which was recently launched in Latin American markets. The Captur, which was manufactured in Brazil, received four-stars for adult occupant protection and three-stars for child occupant protection.

Alejandro Furas, Secretary General of Latin NCAP said: “The Captur shows the potential of local industry to produce and offer safer cars that exceed governmental requirements and that perform good with today’s tougher protocol. Renault should be proud to show their consumers the crash test result of the Captur. We encourage Renault and other manufacturers to keep improving their model ranges to achieve four and five stars”.

The Captur is offered with Electronic Stability Control (ESC)/Traction Control with four airbags as standard equipment. Latin NCAP stated that in the tests the seatbelt and pre-tensioners together with the structure, all performed “good”, which is why the vehicle was awarded a four-star rating.

ISOFIX anchorages and a passenger airbag disable switch with clear instructions for installing a child seat in the front passenger seat are provided in the Renault Captur. Additionally, during the front and side crash test, the Captur was observed to provide good child occupant protection, even when the child seat was anchored with the seatbelt. Latin NCAP claimed that all of the above were the reasons why the vehicle was awarded a three-star rating for child occupant protection.

Latin NCAP will announce the results for its fourth round of tests results in July.
