Renault Lodgy Stepway Edition launched across all variants

Renault India starts offering the Stepway Edition with lower powered (83bhp) versions.

In a bid to push sales of its slow-selling Lodgy MPV, Renault has now made the Stepway variant available across the entire range. Earlier, the Lodgy Stepway was only available with the range-topping 110 RxZ variant (108bhp), but now it’s also offered with 110 RxL, and 85 RxL and 85 RxZ (83bhp) trims as well. Prices start at Rs 9.43 lakh and go up to Rs 11.26 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

For the uninformed, the Stepway Edition gets a few visual as well as functional niceties over the standard model so as to give the Lodgy an upmarket look and feel. Among some of the highlights, the Stepway Edition gets a chrome-studded front grille, brushed aluminium skid plates, chrome fog lamp shrouds, black body cladding, metal finish roof rails and re-profiled tail lamps. The range-topping RxZ trim gets 16-inch gunmetal finish alloy wheels whereas the lower RxL variants come fitted with the 25-inch alloy wheels.

On the inside, the cabin sports a dual-tone brown-beige leather upholstery with contrast stitching along with a piano black finish on the centre console. The top-end variant also gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Customers can choose between 7 or 8-seater options.

Powertrain remains unchanged from the regular version, which means it will be propelled by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine. However, alongside the 108bhp/245Nm that comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the lower engine tune – 83bhp/200Nm with a 5-speed manual - is now also being offered with the Stepway range.

While the addition of the new Stepway variants make the Lodgy a more appealing prospect than before, it still faces an uphill task to attract buyers of this segment – especially, considering the fact that it competes against the hot-selling Toyota Innova Crysta.
