Tata Motors is gearing up to expand its electric vehicle lineup with the much-anticipated Harrier EV, which has now been spotted testing undisguised for the first time ahead of its official launch in India. The sighting offers a clear look at the SUV’s design, which closely resembles its ICE counterpart while incorporating distinct EV-specific elements. Expected to be based on the brand’s GEN 2 EV architecture, the Harrier EV is likely to feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup and a high-capacity battery for an extended range. With its premium features and robust stance, the electric SUV is set to rival models like the Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE 6, Kia Carens EV, MG ZS EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, and the Mahindra XEV 9e. As Tata strengthens its EV portfolio, the Harrier EV could be a game-changer in India's growing electric SUV market.

Tata Harrier EV: Key Details

The Tata Harrier EV, in its final production guise, was recently spotted testing on public roads without any camouflage, offering a clear view of its dual-tone white and black exterior finish. Dimensionally, the Harrier EV remains unchanged from its conventional fuel-powered sibling, measuring 4,605mm in length, 1,922mm in width, and 1,718mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,714mm and a ground clearance of 205mm.

In terms of design, the EV adopts a modern aesthetic with a closed-off front fascia featuring four horizontal creases along the nose. The redesigned front bumper incorporates vertically arranged slats, adding a distinctive touch. It also rides on aero-optimised alloy wheels, resembling those introduced in the model's Stealth Edition. The test prototype lacked the expected ‘EV’ badging on the front doors, though this emblem is likely to appear on the final production model. At the rear, the SUV maintains the same silhouette as its ICE-powered counterpart, apart from a uniquely designed EV-specific bumper.

As far as interior is concerned, the Harrier EV’s cabin retains the familiar layout of its ICE variant, featuring a panoramic sunroof, seven airbags, a 360-degree camera system for enhanced visibility, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment unit, a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, and an advanced Level 2 ADAS safety suite.

Although Tata Motors has not disclosed complete battery details, it has confirmed that the Tata model will feature an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system with a dual-motor setup. The electric SUV is expected to deliver a range of over 500 km/charge, while lower trims may come with a smaller battery pack and a single-motor layout.

While the e-SUV is expected to make its debut by this month, Tata Motors has yet to confirm an official launch date. With its advanced EV technology, the Harrier EV will carry a premium price tag compared to its petrol/diesel-powered version, which is currently priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 26.50 lakh. Estimates suggest that the entry-level variant may start around Rs 24 lakh, whereas the top-end model, equipped with high-end features, could reach nearly Rs 30 lakh. Prices are ex-showroom.
