Tata Nexon EV Max launched at a starting price of Rs 17.74 lakh

The Nexon EV, with the Max version, now inches closer to the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric.

The Nexon EV has now got an elder brother, and it’s called the Nexon EV Max. With prices starting at Rs 17.74 lakh (ex-showroom), the Nexon EV Max primarily packs in a larger battery pack, a slightly more powerful electric motor, and the option of a faster charger. Check out the prices of all the variants in the table below.

Starting with the battery pack, it is now rated at 40kWh compared to the 30.2kWh of before. The ARAI-claimed range has gone up from 320kms to 437kms and the electric motor has also become slightly more powerful with an output of 141bhp and 250Nm, which means that the Nexon EV Max can do the 0-100km/h spring in under 9 seconds. The top speed is limited to 140km/h. The Nexon EV previously came with a 3.3kW charger, but Tata is now offering the option of a faster 7.2kW charger as well, for a premium of Rs 50,000.

Tata’s also made feature updates to the Nexon EV. You now get an illuminated gear knob with a dedicated park button. Then there is the electronic parking brake, wireless charging, ventilated seats and multi-mode regen feature (refills the battery pack with energy lost during slowing down). Tata’s upped the safety quotient as well and you now get ESP as standard, hill-hold, hill-descent control, all four disc brakes and an IP67 rated electric motor and battery pack.

With its updated range, the Tata Nexon EV takes one step closer to competing with MG’s ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric. However, these cars continue to be priced higher than the Nexon EV.
