The upcoming festive season will be beneficial for car buyers in India, especially those eyeing sub-4m SUVs. The prices of several popular models in this segment, including the Tata Nexon, the Kia Sonet, and the Skoda Kylaq, will drop significantly under the revised GST 2.0 structure, which comes into effect from September 22, 2025. According to the new tax regime, cars with petrol engines up to 1200cc or diesel engines up to 1500cc, and under 4000mm in length, will now attract a lower 18% GST rate. Hybrid models meeting the same criteria will also benefit. We’ve picked five top sub-4m SUVs that could be your next purchase, with major price cuts. Here's all you need to know about them.
The popular SUV from Tata Motors will see prices reduced by up to Rs 1.55 lakh, depending on the model. It currently starts at Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom), and is available with petrol, diesel, and CNG powertrain options. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 118bhp and 170Nm, and is offered with a choice of four transmission options: a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), and a six-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).

Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre diesel engine delivers 113bhp and 260Nm and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed AMT. The CNG version is equipped with a 1.2-litre turbocharged bi-fuel that produces 99bhp and 170Nm, and is paired exclusively with a manual transmission.

The Kia Sonet SUV's prices will drop by up to Rs 1.64 lakh, depending on the model, post GST 2.0. The model's existing starting price is Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with a wide range of powertrain options, including petrol and diesel options with manual, iMT, and automatic, and seven-speed gearboxes.
The 1.0-litre Smartstream T-GDi petrol engine delivers 118bhp and 172Nm of torque, while the 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 82bhp and 115Nm. Diesel enthusiasts can opt for the 1.5-litre CRDi VGT engine, which generates 114bhp and 250Nm.

Hyundai has announced a significant price cut of up to Rs 1.24 lakh for the Venue. The sportier N Line variant has seen a price drop of up to Rs 1.19 lakh. The price of the compact SUV currently starts at Rs 7.94 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mechanically, the Hyundai Venue offers three engine options: a 1.5-litre diesel (114bhp/250Nm), a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (118bhp/172Nm), and a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol (82bhp/115Nm). Transmission options include a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual, and a seven-speed DCT.

The Kylaq sub-4m SUV gets a price cut of up to Rs 1.19 lakh, with prices now starting at Rs 7.55 lakh and going up to Rs 12.8 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Skoda SUV is powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 114bhp and 178Nm and is paired either with a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission.

The Kiger has seen the maximum price cut of up to Rs 96,395 in Renault's Indian lineup. The SUV's GST-driven prices range between Rs 5.76 lakh and Rs 10.34 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Kiger's 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 71bhp and 96Nm, while the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine churns out 98bhp and up to 160Nm. The NA petrol unit gets 5-speed MT and AMT options. Meanwhile, the turbo petrol unit can be paired with either a 5-speed MT or CVT.
