The newly launched Tata Sierra, equipped with its potent 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine, has made it to the India Book of Records. How? The SUV achieved a remarkable 29.9km/l during a 12-hour certified run at the NATRAX facility in Indore, surpassing the previous national record and securing its place in history for attaining maximum fuel efficiency in that time frame. The Pixel Motion team carried out the continuous run from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on November 30, 2025, with only brief driver swaps, and the record was officially verified the same day.
Commenting on the milestone, Mohan Savarkar, Chief Product Officer, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said, 'Setting a national efficiency record so early in the Sierra’s journey is a proud moment for us. The Hyperion engine platform was built to push the boundaries of what petrol powertrains can achieve, and this milestone validates that effort. It strengthens the Sierra’s value proposition for customers and underlines TMPV’s commitment to bringing advanced, efficient, and future-ready technologies to the market.'
Tata will open bookings for the Tata Sierra on December 16, 2025, while customer deliveries are set to begin from January 15, 2026. The SUV is available in seven different trims – Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ – with prices ranging between Rs 11.49 lakh and Rs 11.49 lakh and Rs 18.49 lakh (both, ex-showroom).
The all-new Sierra offers a choice between three 1.5 litre engines. The first option is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit that produces 104bhp and 145Nm, and is paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT. The second option is a 1.5-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol that generates 158bhp and 255Nm, and comes with a single 6-speed automatic.
