Tata Sierra Bharat NCAP Crash

Tata Sierra has scored a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests, and that’s good news if safety matters to you. The SUV managed 31.14 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection and 44.73 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection. With full stars in both, the Sierra joins other Tata cars that have done well in crash tests. It’s clear that the SUV focuses on safety along with everyday usability on Indian roads.

In the frontal offset crash test, the Sierra did a proper job. The driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet got a ‘good’ rating, while the chest and tibiae were rated ‘adequate’. For the co-driver, almost everything was rated ‘good’, except the right tibia. Overall, the structure holds up well in a head-on impact.

Side crash results are also strong. In both the side barrier and pole tests, protection for the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis was rated ‘good’ for both front occupants. That means the SUV remains stable even in side hits, which is important in real-world conditions.

Child safety is sorted too. The Sierra was tested with rear-facing seats for 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies. The smaller dummy scored 7.73 out of 8, while the older one got a full 8 out of 8 in the frontal test. In side impacts, both got full marks. The SUV scored 23.73 out of 24 in dynamic tests and full 12 in CRS, ending with 44.73 out of 49 overall.

On the feature side, the Sierra gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, all-wheel disc brakes, rear parking sensors and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. Higher variants add a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, auto-dimming IRVM and blind spot monitoring.
