Tesla has launched the Model Y L in China, priced at 3,39,000 yuan (approximately Rs 41.17 lakh). This is an extended, 6-seater version of the standard Tesla Model Y, with a host of upgrades. For now, the Model Y L is solely available in China, and its availability in India isn't confirmed. Considering the niche yet premium segment of long-wheelbase versions in our market, we can anticipate Tesla to bring the Model Y L to India sometime in the future. Currently, Tesla only sells the Model Y with a 5-seat configuration in India in rear-wheel-drive form, priced between Rs 59.89 lakh and Rs 67.89 lakh. Deliveries of the SUV are slated to begin in India by the third quarter of the year. Let's look at some key features of the Model Y, which is exclusively offered in China.

The most significant change in the Model Y L is its extended wheelbase, which results in a more spacious and comfortable rear passenger area. The 150mm of added space has given noticeably more legroom, making the Model Y electric SUV an ideal choice for families.

Visually, the Tesla Model Y L retains the silhouette of its standard counterpart, but gets a few changes. These include a stretched roofline, a sporty blacked-out spoiler, new 19-inch alloy wheels, a larger rear quarter glass, and an exclusive badge on the tailgate. Tesla has also introduced a new Starlight Gold paint option.
Inside, the Model Y L is more passenger-focused, with a 2+2+2 seating layout. While the second-row captain's chairs offer both heating and ventilation, the third-row seats solely come with the heating function. Other highlights include a larger 16-inch touchscreen, a premium 18-speaker audio system, and new pillar-integrated air vents.
The Model Y L is available exclusively in the long-range, all-wheel-drive configuration, featuring dual electric motors (190bhp at the front and 265bhp at the rear).
