Mahindra has revealed a new all-terrain vehicle for the Indian Armed Forces, and it looks built with a clear purpose. Based on the Mahindra Thar Roxx, this ATV was shared by Anand Mahindra through official images online. Details are still limited, but this is clearly not a concept for show. It shows Mahindra’s focus on building vehicles that can handle extreme terrain, where regular SUVs simply cannot operate, with a strong focus on durability and usability.

The base comes from the Mahindra Thar Roxx, but the changes are extensive. All comfort-focused elements have been removed, and the focus is now on functionality. It gets an open-body structure with a roll cage, giving it a more utilitarian layout. You also notice the tandem tyre setup, which adds to its readiness for long operations in tough terrain.
The hardware is straightforward and practical. There is a front-mounted winch for recovery when the vehicle gets stuck. It also gets mounts for equipment, including a dedicated gun mount, jerrycans for extra fuel, and space for two spare wheels. There is underbody protection as well, and even the windshield has a guard. Everything here serves a clear purpose in real-world use.

Another key detail is its air-drop capability. The ATV can be deployed from aircraft, allowing it to reach areas without road access. This adds to its usability in different types of missions. It is not just about off-road ability, but also about reaching remote locations quickly when needed.
Mahindra has not shared engine details yet. Since it is based on the Mahindra Thar Roxx, it could use the 2.2-litre diesel or the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The final version for defence use may be different. Petrol engines are usually more suitable at high altitudes, where diesel engines can face some limitations.

Mahindra already supplies vehicles like the Armado, Marksman, and Rakshak to the Indian Armed Forces. The Scorpio is also used in service. There is no confirmation yet on when this ATV will enter service, and it is unlikely to be available for civilian buyers.
