The new Lexus LFA is fully electric and has made its much-awaited debut in concept form, alongside Toyota’s new GR GT supercar and the race-ready GR GT3 in Japan. While details remain limited, the luxury division of Toyota has confirmed that the concept uses engineering know-how from GR GT and GR GT3 race cars while exploring what is possible with an electric powertrain. It has a lightweight aluminium body and is built around three core principles (a low centre of gravity, lightweight yet highly rigid construction, and advanced aerodynamics). Since the original two-door LFA sports car ended production in 2012, fans have eagerly speculated about what a second-generation model might offer – whether it would feature a more powerful V10 or a completely new approach. The new LFA Concept answers that curiosity with a fully electric powertrain, highlighting its ability to explore electrification while highlighting the performance potential of electric sports cars. All of this comes wrapped in a timeless, next-generation design that stays true to the spirit of the original LFA.

Speaking on its electric exploration of the supercar, Lexus said, 'The model name 'LFA' is not bound to vehicles powered by internal combustion engines. It symbolises a vehicle that embodies technologies its engineers should preserve and pass on to the next generation. From the past to the future: the Lexus LFA Concept is a testament to how Lexus is preserving and passing on the value of sports cars and car-making knowledge so they can be retained and evolved.'

While exact details about the LFA Concept’s powertrain and performance remain under wraps, its engineering ties to the GR GT and GR GT3 hint at its capabilities. The LFA concept has grown in size. It stretches 4,690mm in length, 2,040mm across, and sits on a 2,725mm wheelbase. Compared to the old LFA, it’s roughly 254mm longer and over 152 mm wider, giving it a much more commanding presence.
Design-wise, the new LFA Concept channels the spirit of the original LFA. Its low, coupe-like stance and flowing lines give it a timeless profile, while large wheels and functional vents behind the front tyres hint at performance. Even as a full BEV, it exudes the dynamic presence of a front-engine, rear-drive supercar.
Key highlights include a long hood with a glowing logo, slim LED headlights, a continuous taillight, F1-inspired lighting, and a bold rear diffuser.

The new LFA boasts a driver-centric cockpit, with a large display (showing all key information), and a yoke-style wheel for smooth operation. Digital screens have replaced the traditional gauges. Moreover, the central infotainment panel is absent.
