Out of 1,70,000 Toyota Camrys recalled worldwide, 119 are in India

As a part of the global recall of Toyota Camrys over faulty front suspension, Indian customers benefit too.

Toyota is recalling close to 1,70,000 Camrys globally over a faulty ball joint in front suspension that can cause a loss of control of the car. The cars made between March and July 2011 fall under this category. So far, no such report has been received by Toyota and this recall is just a precautionary measure from the Japanese manufacturer. Customers in India will be contacted by the Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) and the necessary job done will be carried out free of cost by the respective dealership.

It seems that this year belong to ‘recalling of the vehicles’ in each and every part of the world. We have been reading about millions of cars being recalled over faulty airbags in some country or another, but in Toyota’s case, this time, the issue is different. In April, Toyota had recalled 44,989 units of its highly famous Innova to rectify a cable issue in the steering wheel.

Car manufacturers from India have recalled almost seven lakh vehicles since July 2012 – when SIAM started voluntary vehicle recalls for safety related issues. Big players like Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ford, Honda, General Motors and Nissan have been recalling their cars in India time and again over some issue or another.

U.S.A. will be the most affected country because of this recall as 1,20,000 Camrys out of 1,70,000 recalled are there. Second nation to get affected is Japan where the number is close to 40,000.
